It is always interesting to see Pantone’s Annual Colour Of The Year. The colours that Pantone forecast are incredibly influential in design and product development in industries such as furniture, fashion, accessories and technology. And of course, tiles and flooring!

After the shocker of 2020 (which incidentally was designated ‘Classic Blue’), the Volaré Tiles + Flooring team has been waiting with bated breath to see which hue will reign in 2021.

Today Pantone announced not one, but two colours of the year for 2021: ‘Ultimate Gray’ and ‘Illuminating’ - shades chosen for their strength and positivity.

The Pantone press release described Illuminating as a “bright and cheerful yellow sparkling with vivacity, a warming yellow shade imbued with solar power.” Ultimate Gray is emblematic of “solid and dependable elements which are everlasting and provide a firm foundation, [highlighting] an ability to stand the test of time.”

Volaré creates its own ranges, as well as sourcing products from Europe, Asia and within Australia.

In developing Volaré’s product ranges, we have noticed that there is a distinct swing toward interiors that feel cheerful, happy and optimistic.

In 2020, many have been spending more time at home and are wanting their spaces to feel positive and secure. A sunshine yellow and strong grey reflect this sentiment perfectly.

Volaré will soon introduce the Serie Metro subway tiles from Spanish tile company Cevica, which will be available in our showrooms from February.

This collection of subway tiles includes the colours ‘Gris’ and ‘Lima’ - a strong grey and cheerful yellow, which are both incredibly comparable to the newly-released 2021 Pantone Colors of the Year.

We can’t wait to see how these colours will be used in homes and the building industry!
